Dance With Me(Toddler)

A creative dance class in which the parent/caregiver and child can bond and interact with one another while exploring the art of dance through play-inspired activities.

Creative Dance
1 & 2

Children explore the basic dance concepts through imaginative play-inspired activities. Children will get opportunities to experiment with props, work with partners and interpret stories through movement. Dancers will have fun exploring the art of dance by expressing their unique artistic personality and exercising his/her imagination.

Ballet

A formalized classical ballet class, including barre, centre, and stretch exercises. Students begin learning basic ballet etiquette, proper body alignment and classical ballet vocabulary.

Tap

The beginning of formal tap technique. Students will explore rhythm, syncopation, and musicality. This class will consist of warm-ups followed by stylized movements across the floor and aggressive, funky, rhythm-oriented combinations.

Contemporary

An expressive style of dance that incorporates the foundations of modern dance techniques including suspension and release, floor work, partnering, and connecting breath with movement. Dancers will also explore the interpretation of the music to tell a story and various methods of improvisation.

Jazz

A fast-paced, high-energy class for the child that loves to perform. A technical style of dance designed to entertain, involving dynamic movement such as leaps and turns while exploring varied rhythmic patterns.

Musical Theatre

Taught by one of Riverwalk Theatre’s award-winning choreographers and ensemble members, Amanda Tollstam Musical Theatre is a class filled with Broadway-style dancing and music. This class will incorporate the style of dance one would typically see on a Broadway stage and students will have the opportunity to perform numbers from well-known musicals.

 

NEW: Children’s Dance Company

This is a year-long commitment for those who are interested in being a part of a non-competitive team-like performance company. This company will meet weekly on Saturday mornings to rehearse/practice and would perform at local events, festivals, parades, etc.
